IntroductionScholarships play an important role in furthering Education. Scholarships can be divided into three broader types: 1. Scholarships awarded by an education institute to their students for study or research. Research Scholarships are generally funded by Govt. or private companies. 2. Scholarships awarded by Government, various trusts and clubs to a student for an education institute of his/her choice. 3. Scholarships awarded by Government, various trusts and clubs to a student for study in a specific education institute. Here we have listed 2nd and 3rd type of scholarships. 1st type of scholarship is listed with respective educational institute.
In INDIAPost Matric Studies:
National Scholarship: The
States and the Union Territory on the basis of population award National
Scholarships for Meritorious student from Post-Matric to Postgraduate
studies in the various disciplines. Purpose:
No talented student is prevented
from study on the ground of poverty and backwardness. Eligibility:
Candidates who have secured 60 per cent marks in the qualifying
Examination conducted by the State Govts/UTT Administrations and passed in
the same year of award of scholarship are eligible. Amount:
The amount of scholarships, vary from Rs. 60 to Rs. 300 per month
depending on the courses opted and whether a student is a day Scholar or a
hosteller. Procedure:
The application form duly filled and submitted to the Director of
Education State/UTT Administration.
National Scholarship for Rural Children: The
States and the Union Territory on the basis of population award National
Scholarship to Meritorious Rural children from classes VI to VIII and for
the Secondary stage of education. Purpose:
To encourage children of Landless Laborers, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled
Tribes Class to pursue Secondary Stage of education. Eligibility:
Candidates are to appear in two stages of Examinations; first, the
Examination is conducted through the Govt./UT Administration. Those who
qualify the first stage of exam are eligible to sit in the Second Stage of
Examination conducted by NCERT and the final selection is made by the
Community Development Block. The top students in each block are liable to
get the scholarship. Amount:
Scholarships vary from Rs. 100 to Rs. 300 per month depending on the class
and the category of reservation. Procedure:
The application form dully filled and submitted to the concerned
department of Govt./UTT Administration. The contact address is District
inspector of School/Director of Education State/And UTT government.
Post Matric Scholarships for Hindi to non-Hindi States: The
States and the Union Territory award National Scholarships from post-Matric
to post-Doctorate level students for Hindi to the non-Hindi States in
India. Purpose:
The candidates whose mother tongue is not Hindi and who belongs to the non
Hindi and Hindi States/Union Territories are eligible to sit in the
examination. Amount:
It varies from Rs. 50 per month (Non-Hindi speaking States) and Rs. 125
per month (Hindi-speaking States) depending the course. Eligibility:
The selection is made by non-Hindi Speaking States Govt/UT Administration
on the basis of merit and the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate. Procedure: Application forms duly filled with attested copies should be submitted by the prescribed date. The contact person is Director of Education, State/UT government. ^ TOP |
