Introduction                                                                                              SYLLABUS

 

Purpose:

UPSC conducts Engineering Services Examination for recruitment of Civil engineers, in various central government services. There are various posts under each specialization and a candidate can apply for two or more posts through the same application.

 

Eligibility:

Candidates should be in the age group of 21-30 years and possess a degree in engineering or equivalent. Details regarding the services, which recruit engineers through this exam, categories for which age relaxation is admissible, pattern of exam etc are available in the notification of the exam published by UPSC in the Employment News.

 

Pattern:

Selection is through a written test followed by an interview. The written test comprises of two sections. The first section is objective and the second descriptive. The first section comprises of three papers of 2 hours duration each. The first paper is on general studies and English and the remaining two papers are on one of the four engineering areas given above. The descriptive papers, of three hours duration each, are also on the same area of engineering.
