Assistant Commandants In Para Military

Introduction

 

Purpose:

Selection Boards of Central Police Organizations recruit Assistant Commandants, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Company Commanders in BSF, CRPF and ITBP respectively, through an all India based competitive examination. These posts fall under the Group ‘A’ category.

Each CPO has a different role to play in the maintenance of peace in the country and the personnel recruited by each have to serve the purpose for which the particular organization has been raised. This requires different kind of training for each CPO, therefore, though the examination is common after selection candidates are sent to the academy of the respective CPOs for specialized training.

 

Eligibility:

Graduates with 50% marks in the age group of 19-25 years, with specified physical attributes are eligible to take the exam. Age relaxation is permissible for certain specified categories. Outstanding performance in sports or possession of NCC certificates (B or C) is given weightage. The minimum prescribed physical standards are Height 165 cms; weight 50 kgs; chest 81 cms with and expansion of 5 cms.

 

Pattern:

Selection is in three phases, comprising of written test, physical efficiency test (PET) and personal interview. Written part has two papers, the first paper comprises of questions on general awareness, logical reasoning and numerical ability. The second paper is on English and consists of essay writing, comprehension passage and précis writing.

Those getting through the written test are called for PET, which comprises of 100 mts sprint, 800mts race, long jump, high jump and short put throw. Each item has a predetermined criterion and it is essential to qualify in each one of them separately.

Those successfully qualify the PET are short-listed for personal interview and medical examination. Final selection and the CPO would depend on the availability of posts and preference given by the candidate, regarding the choice of CPO.
