Joint Management Entrance Examination (JMET)

INTRODUCTION                                 SYLLABUS    MODEL QUESTION PAPERS

 

Purpose:

The IITs and the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore jointly conduct an entrance exam called the Joint Management Entrance Exam (JMET) for admission to their postgraduate business management programs. The test entitles the students for admission in the following courses:

(a) IISc Bangalore: 2 year’s full time MBA

(b) IIT Bombay: 2 year’s full time and 3-year part time Master of Management Program. The latter is for working professionals.

(c) IIT Delhi: 2 year’s full time and 3-year part time MBA. The latter is meant for working executives.

(d) IIT Kanpur: 2 year’s full time MBA.

(e) IIT Kharagpur: 2 year’s full time MBA.

15% seats are reserved for SCs and 7.5% seats for the ST candidates for all the above courses.

 

Eligibility:

For IISc Bangalore, IIT Kanpur and Kharagpur B.E./B.Tech in any branch of engineering with first class. Those with second class are also eligible for IISc. Applicants with 1st class Masters degree in Science, Economics or Commerce (with maths or statistics at bachelors level) are also eligible for seeking admission in IIT Kharagpur.

For IIT Bombay a bachelors degree in engineering with first class or first class postgraduate in Science for full time MOM and part time MOM 3years work experience is required in addition.

For IIT Delhi, 60% marks in aggregate or 66.75 CGPA on a 10-point scale in Bachelors degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy / Agricultural Engg. or Masters degree in Commerce, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Environmental Sciences, Operational Research or Information Science. Additionally 2 years work experience for the part time program. 

 

Pattern:

The exam has started from the year 2000 only and in all probability the pattern would be similar to that of CAT. JMET brochure and application forms are available at specified branches of schedule banks from September 18 onwards for Rs 800 (Rs 400 for SC/ST categories). The forms can also be obtained in person or by post from IISc Bangalore or any of the IITs.  The forms are available upto 30th October in GATE offices at IISc and IITs.
