Combined Admission Test - CATINTRODUCTION
Purpose:Candidates seeking admission in Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) and Fellow Programs in Management (FPM), offered by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore and Kozhikode need to clear the Common Admission Test (CAT). The Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow conduct the exam jointly. The duration of MBA in these institutes is 2 years. There are in total around 1250 seats for MBA in all the IIMs.
Eligibility:Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university with not less then 50% marks, in aggregate. Those appearing at the final examination for the Bachelor’s degree can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, are admitted provisionally, unless they obtain the degree by a specified date.
Pattern: The exam comprises of a written test followed by a group discussion and finally an interview. The written test comprises questions on verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, data interpretation, both quantitative and non-quantitative, mathematical interpretation, general awareness and english. The examination is notified in September and held in around 20 centres spread throughout the country in December every year. Depending upon the choice of centre, completed forms can be submitted or sent to the In-charge admissions at IIM Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Bangalore and Lucknow.
