Lecturers
Job
Description:
In colleges and universities much of the teaching is in the
form of lectures. Lecturers have to spend hours in preparing for lectures and
practical sessions. They have to be up to date in their subject and follow
development in their respective fields. Those engaged in research publish their
work or contribute them to relevant professional organization. The proportion
of time devoted to teaching and to research varies between posts (lecturers/
readers/professors) and institutions. They also carry out administrative tasks
such as helping with student admissions, serving on departmental committees,
being wardens of hostels etc.
Educational
Qualification:
As per the latest guidelines issued by University Grants
Commission (UGC) in subjects other than fine arts, management, engineering and
technology, M.Phil in a subject is required for appointment as a lecturer at
the university level and promotions depend on further qualifications. Otherwise a good academic record with at
least 55% or an equivalent grade at master’s degree level in the relevant
subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign
