Besides
production the other main areas of work in radio and television broadcasting
include research, scriptwriting and presentation. Research and
scriptwriting involves providing the background information on the subject of
the program. Researchers contribute not only ideas for the program but also in
making the program authentic. They themselves often write the script used by
the characters, presenter or commentator in the program.
The job of a
Scriptwriter is a highly specialised and there are specialists for television,
radio and film scripts. A scriptwriter writes scripts for television serials,
documentaries, soap operas, or adapt a novel or a story for television. The
scriptwriter must have a flair for writing together with an intuitive
understanding of public emotions at different levels. Script editor/supervisor
acts as an intermediary between the Scriptwriter and the producer, and even
commissions new work to current affairs and archaeology science etc.
Educational
Qualification:
Flair of writing
with a good command over language and literature is the essential requirement.
Nonetheless formal training like Diploma Direction and Screen Play
writing/Creative writing definitely helps. Researchers are specialists in their
fields.
Opening:
Every T.V. and
Radio and Broadcasting channel requires scriptwriters. There are openings also
with the advertising agencies, private production organization, government
publicity departments and inter-net service providers.
