And Management Accountants
Job Description:
One of
the main areas of work for a Cost Accountant is budgetary control. They
evaluate operational efficiency and the effectiveness of production and service
management, guide managerial decisions, and identify attributes for cost and
profit variance. They also act as tax consultants; advisors on company matters,
mergers, acquisitions etc.
Educational Qualification:
Membership
of the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India (ICWAI) headquartered in
Calcutta with regional offices at Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi, is the
only prescribed qualification for entry into this profession. Membership is
granted after clearing the preliminary or foundation, intermediate and final
examinations conducted by the institute and also after acquiring three years of
the requisite practical training.

Opening:
There
are excellent job prospects as Government has made it compulsory for as many as
thirty-eight classes of companies to have internal cost audit. Moreover, the
business organizations have realized the benefits of having the services of a
cost accountant.
Remuneration:
Starting
salary is Rs. 10,000 per month (excluding other allowances)
