ModellingModelling
today has become one of the most sought after career options for
youngsters in India. A positive economic growth, since the time country
took to economic reforms and the resultant increase in consumerism with
better income levels has given a tremendous boost to the advertising
industry. This along with the increasing reach of electronic media and
upsurge in fashion and textile industry, have all contributed in making
Modelling an attractive career option. Though apparently a glamorous and a
lucrative profession, a model has to put in a lot of hard work and efforts
to be successful in this highly competitive field. Modelling
as a profession attracts males and females equally, though there was a
time when females dominated it, and still they have better opportunities
than their male counterparts. This
is often a short-lived career and by and large most models are young
though older people do well for certain products and styles. Educational
Qualification:
As
such no formal education or training is required for entry into this
profession. Age is also not a bar. Depending upon the right opportunity, a
career in modelling can take off even at a young age of 16-17 years. Many
top ex-models have started grooming schools for potential models. By
joining such schools an aspiring model would not only learn the finer
nuances of the profession but also get exposure that may ultimately help
in getting assignments. Alternatively,
one can get his/her own portfolio prepared with the help of a professional
photographer and then get in touch with advertising agencies, model
coordinating agencies, film production companies and so on.
